The 2017 Lexus TX is a three row luxury crossover based on the smaller RX, and will be manufactured by the luxury car arm of Toyota. It is a brand new offering from Toyota in response to the complaints received regarding the RX model. Rumors are abuzz it will provide stiff condition to Mercedes Benz GL class, Audi Q7, Honda Pilot, Infiniti QX60 and Nissan Pathfinder.
2017 Lexus TX: Design and Features
The 2017 Lexus TX will probably be available in 7 passenger arrangements, so it can be expected with large space inside. The exteriors will feature a brand new design like smaller trapezoidal grille, highly polishes body, straight body lines, headlights having razor sharp like appearance, ovoid fog lights integrated into the front bumper and five spiked alloy wheels. Extensive use of aluminum in body construction and angular architecture will provide a much more aerodynamic design. As far as the interiors are concerned, the cabin will be equipped with the latest possible technologies to provide optimal passenger comfort. The cockpit decoration will be based on the Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX. Being unibody designed, the car will hopefully offer more space than Lexus GX.
The 2017 Lexus TX will be offered with a 3.5 liter i-VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) V6 unit that will 290 hp and 362 Nm of torque. This unit has an acceleration of 0-60 mph in less than 8 seconds. A hybrid variant will also be made available for the TX, which will feature the 3.5 liter V6 unit mated with dual electric motors. This combo can produce about 300 horsepower and 407 Nm of torque. The 2017 TX SUV will be available in 6 or 8 speed automatic transmissions and a standard front wheel drive configuration and an optional all-wheel drive kit.
Infotainment and Equipment
Since the SUV is still in developmental stage, very few details about the interiors are available. But it will be equipped with state-of-the-art infotainment package, driver assist and safety kit. According to sources, all future Lexus vehicles will be equipped with an upgraded model of Lexus Enform Infotainment Suite. This will carry apps like Bing, Yelp, Open Table, Pandora, I Heart Radio, etc. Real time data about traffic conditions, weather, calendar, fuel consumption will be made available along with other standard features like hands free calling facilities and Bluetooth connectivity.
Navigation support is made more users friendly by the use of Destination Assist. In addition, Enform allows the search, organize and naming of up to 200 destinations in 20 separate digital folders and these can be send to on board navigation system via wireless connection. Advanced safety kits and driver assists will also be made available.
Price and Arrival
No official reports about the fuel economy of this car have been revealed yet. The 2017 Lexus TX will be available in markets from late 2016 with an expected price of around $60,000.
