The test mule for the next generation 2017 Peugeot 3008 was spotted recently. It has the style of a conventional SUV which is pretty impressive for a new comer. The first look of the vehicle is set to be revealed at the Paris motor show in October.
2017 Peugeot 3008: Redesign and Improvements
The all-new Peugeot 3008 this time is more rugged than its current generation MPV-Like model. The redesign styling inspiration has been taken from the Quartz hybrid SUV which was revealed at the 2014 Paris Show. It features a low side window line and there is a sloped roofline. It won’t be wrong to say that from the looks of the exterior, it was clear that it is more of an SUV than a crossover. From the spy shots, we came to know that the driving position is higher and the automaker has done this to ensure 3008 gives competition to Ford Kuga, Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX-3.
There is much more about the design of the 2017 Peugeot 3008 that needs unwrapping. The test mule was heavily camouflaged. We couldn’t come up with significant details about the improvements in the looks of the car. However, it is true that the exterior has some notable changes. Now let’s move to the interior. It is likely to remain the same family car and its appearance is kept a bit similar to 308. The aim of the company is to provide up-selling interior that sets this vehicle apart from its rivals. A smaller steering wheel is added for offering the driver a better visibility of the instrument binnacle. With this, you will see uncluttered view of the road ahead of you.
2017 Peugeot 3008: Platform and Engine
The materials that have been chosen for this model are a combination of alloys and weight materials such as reinforced carbon fiber and magnesium. The 2017 Peugeot 3008 is among the three Peugeot Citroen cars that will be developed in collaboration with General Motors. GM is currently busy with its B-segment MPV that will be called Citroen. Along with this partnership, 3008 will be based on the EMP2 PSA platform. The automaker said that they have differentiated 3008 through not just its partnership but its road holding. They said that an impressive Peugeot iCockpit will be provided. It is hoped that the model beats its competitors readily. Improved safety features will be added such as lane departure, autonomous braking system, enforced seat belts, airbags, rear view camera, blind sports, active parking assistant and more.
The 2017 Peugeot 3008 will contain the new generation 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that was found in 308 SW. A diesel hybrid will not be provided for this vehicle. The company instead is working on a petrol plugin hybrid model which will be found in other models of Peugeot too. Peugeot will receive either two or the four wheel drive options.
