Skoda has had phenomenal success with its Yeti range of SUVs. In fact, most experts estimate that this is one of the most successful ranges produced by the car manufacturer. As such, everyone was expecting a revision due any time. And that is how the 2017 Skoda Yeti emerged. With the new car, Skoda has decided to go fully mainstream, and this means that we will not see any radical changes to the existing design it does not necessarily imply that the car will not be any good. In fact, there are pretty high expectations from the model, all of which seem to be living up to its name.
2017 Skoda Yeti: Design and Changes
When you first see the new 2017 Skoda Yeti you might think that you have seen the car somewhere before. That is not too far of either. The new car from Skoda shares much of its designing features with the Volkswagen Tiguan. However, that is not such a bad thing. Instead of the usual straight up door on the previous model, the new 2017 Yeti features a slightly angled one which means that the back number plate had to be fitted in slightly higher. The backlights have been replaced with the usual Skoda C-shaped lights as well. On the front, the headlights, though, have been revamped up quite a bit. It is now a 4 light arrangement combined with the small driving lights which sit just below the normal headlights and slim LED lights, the whole setup is more efficient now. The sides have been redesigned as well, with the wheel arches getting a more square treatment and deeper arches above the existing wheelbase. The evidence of the Volkswagen’s MQB platform is very evident in the new car as well.
The insides are a by the book rendition of the classic SUV. The new 2017 Skoda Yeti is meant for people who prefer stability. The usual dashboard sits on the front with normal features like GPS, lane assist etc. all scheduled to be present as well. The change seems to be in the dimensions of the interior cabin which has been increased. Although less than some of the bigger SUV’s, the new 2017 Skoda Yeti seems to have enough seating space for 5 people to be accommodated comfortably.
2017 Skoda Yeti: Engines
The new car is a SUV which means that it is expected to come with oodles of power for handling those off road curves. Skoda has come out with quite a few variants of the SUV to suit all needs. If you wish to get the petrol variant, you can opt for a 1.2l unit or a 1.4l engine with 110 HP, 125 HP and 140 HP of power respectively. There are 3 variants in the diesel category. Both are 2.0l with either 110 or 150 HP of power available. With a top speed of 124 mph, this car will cater to everyone’s needs. Available in 2 or 4 wheel drive options, you can determine which you want as well.
Price and Release
Although the release dates have been fixed at the middle of 2017, there has been no official word on the pricing of the car yet.
