For years, SUVs have served as a supplement when buyers came looking for something more than a coupe. The auto market offers limited options when someone’s looking for something bigger than a coupe or a sedan. SUVs so far have been filling that gap. However, one drawback with persistently bothered automakers was that SUVs often offer low fuel efficiency. Greater power results in a not-so-impressive fuel economy, and thereby leaves a scope for buyers to complain. New technological developments have however helped the automakers to improve the situation, bringing more economical SUVs into the market. The 2018 Audi Q6 is going to be one such offering from the German car manufacturer.
2018 Audi Q6: Powertrain Specs
As revealed in the Frankfurt Auto show, the 2018 Audi Q6 will come with an all-electric Q6 e-tron system. It’s going to be entirely eco-friendly and its efficiency will make it every car owner’s dream SUV. Audi claims that this car will be good enough to compete with Tesla Model X and that’s saying something. They’ve got plenty of time to pull their act together since this car is supposed to be a 2018 model. Audi will certainly come up with the best SUV powers for their upcoming Q6.
When we are talking about a premier league SUV, anticipations about its powertrain are but an obvious thing. It’s not due for a very long time, but rumors have already started floating in the air. Some of them suggest that 2018 Audi Q6 will feature a drivetrain that generates nearly 496 HP and can reach from 0 to 62 mph in only 4.2 seconds. For this model, the highest speed is to be electronically limited at 130 mph.
Recently, an insider has reported tipped off that Q6 e-tron shall also feature a 95 kWh battery which can be fully charged in 50 minutes. Also, it can extend a driving range of 310 miles. These numbers are certainly going to raise eyebrows and if Audi really succeeds in achieving these figures, the 2018 Audi Q6 will clearly top the most-desired charts.
2018 Audi Q6: Design and Comfort
The 2014 Prologue Concept was first unveiled at the 2014 LA Motor show. Some unofficial sources suggest that 2018 Audi Q6 is to be based on this same concept. If this turns out to be true, the SUV will look more like a coupe and shall be enticingly sporty and trendy in its appearance.
No concrete statement can be made about its designing just yet. However, we’re expecting latest angular headlights and tail-lights, an eye-catching front grille, contoured body and doors, and a sliding hood. There are high chances that something much more than these will be on offer.
Interior designing of this SUV remains shrouded in mystery. It will apparently have a seating arrangement comfortable enough for 4 grown passengers. Since it’s Audi we’re talking about, it’s safe to guess that fine leather upholstery will adorn the interior. Add to those the most desirable high-tech gadgets all high-end SUVs feature today. Since technology is advancing every day, and the car isn’t due until 2018, many new additions might be made. For now we’ve got to sit tight until Audi decides to spill more beans.
